Economic/Environmental Integration Reports

TCPS and two Mexican organizations, La Neta and Fronteras Comunes, recently issued a call for proposals from Mexican civic and other non-governmental organizations for case studies examining the public health, community and environmental impacts related to the North American Free Trade Agreement and economic integration between the U.S. and Mexico. Four case studies were chosen and reports written.

The studies highlight particular cases where the integration of the Canadian, U.S. and Mexican economies and the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement has either positively or negatively affected the local environment, regulatory climate, public health or indigenous communities. The goals are to better understand the linkage among environment, community and trade and investment and to develop alternative solutions for reducing adverse impacts.
